The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book 1.1 update:
Sharpening and noise reduction
Capture sharpening for a sharp start
In this feature story I wanted to concentrate on the new sharpening and noise reduction controls in Lightroom 1.1. But before discussing the new sharpening controls, I should briefly explain the principle behind capture sharpening and the difference between this and output sharpening.

John Beardsworth, author of Digital Photographer’s Guide to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has posted a handy little tip for creating Virtual Copy Collections of photos in Lightroom 1.1.
When you write a book on version 1.0 of a program, things are very much in flux. Apart from your publisher’s deadline. Features change subtly and others are pulled at the last minute, or later, and you’re never going to anticipate what might will appear in a dot release just a few months later – days after your book hits the streets. So while I’m not going to list the detailed changes (I recommend reading through this list of changes), this is the first of a few notes on how to take advantage of what’s in Lightroom 1.1.

Scott Kelby today anounced a Lightroom 1.1 update kit for The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers.

Yippie! It’s up!!! (I guess it actually went up yesterday, but I didn’t get the exact URL for the download until this morning. Sorry ’bout that).
Remember: this update was created exclusively for people who actually own my book “The Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers” and I created this 1.1 Update Kit as an added benefit for those specific people (whom I dearly love, by the way).

Over on Computer-Darkroom.com, Lightroom guru and lightroom alpha tester Ian Lyons, has written detailed review titled: Summary of What’s New in Lightroom 1.1:
Lightroom 1.0 made its public debut in mid February 2007. At the time, I along with around 40 other photographers and fellow Lightroom alpha testers (Michael Reichmann, Jeff Schewe and Seth Resnick) were on a photo shoot to Antarctica, so we missed all the fun and games of the official launch day. Anyway, time marches and Lightroom 1.1 is now with us, maybe we’ll have another party.

The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book 1.1 update:
General menu items common to all modules
With the release of the 1.1 update, the Lightroom program has undergone a number of fundamental changes. The program’s performance has been tuned to run that little bit faster and more smoothly and the Optimize option can also help improve Lightroom’s efficiency. Elsewhere you will notice quite a number of interface changes, not least in the Lightroom menus. When you first launch Lightroom after upgrading you will see a big change here, so as a service to those of you who are upgrading I have highlighted all the main menu differences. You can use this as a quick guide to some of the new changes.
