Mastering the white balance controls
For someĀ Lightroom and Camera Raw users there hasĀ been a certain amount of confusion surrounding the White Balance Temp slider interface. In this movie I run through the basic principles of how to use the White Balance tool and explain how the Temp and Tint sliders are used to ‘assign’ a white balance setting rather than actually ‘create’ a white balance setting (which is where the confusion arises). Plus did you know that the White Balance sliders can also play a signifcant role in black and white conversions?
Please note this video is in Quicktime format. A player can be downloaded from apple.com.

I like very much the way Martin explains LR with his good and clear English.
Nice work Martin. Keep it :)
Well done. I learned a great deal in that short video.
Was hoping there would be more info on the tint slider which I never seem to touch. The WB info was good and I never noticed the controls on the status line.
The Tint slider is there to allow you to correct for any green/magenta colour bias in an image. For example, photographs shot under fluorescent lighting which has a green bias, will require a positive Tint value to correct for the green cast. But you’ll also find when you use the auto white balance on the camera and shoot general scenes, there can often be a quite subtle Tint bias in the white balance setting that’s recorded at the time of capture
gr8 job That bit was pretty impressive, thanks for posting.
