George Jardine has posted a new podcast interview with Pete Turner.
This podcast features both an audio interview and a range of images from Pete’s extensive collection.

Pete sits down with George to have a conversation about how he got started in photography and his early experiments with color. One useful feature of Lightroom is the ability to use Keyword Sets. This can help speed up entering keywords into Lightroom. Lightroom ships with 3 basic Keyword Sets: Outdoor Photography, Portrait Photography and Wedding Photography. These can be selected using the drop down menu in Keywording (Right Hand side in Library). Each set contains 9 keywords which correspond to the keys 1-9 on the Numeric Keypad. To apply them, you need to make sure that the textbox in the Keywording Pane is not active. Then hold Alt (Option on Mac), and a number will appear besides the keyword. Pressing the corresponding number will apply the keyword in the textbox.

Adobe Labs has finally posted the Pixmantec RawShooter Migration Tool to help users of Pixmantec RawShooter Premium or Pixmantec RawShooter Essentials achieve “visually similar” settings in Lightroom and Camera Raw 4.x. Given that the controls in each application are not identical, the results of these conversions will not provide visually identical images.

Do you want to know how to get the best black and white conversions out of Lightroom? This short movie tutorial on Lightroom black and white conversions starts with a few basic tips on how to use the Auto-Adjust Grascale button in conjunction with the White Balance sliders. I then show how to use the target adjustment tool in the Grayscale panel to pick the areas of a photograph that you wish to lighten or darken. Finally, I demonstrate how to desaturate the colors via the HSL panel and achieve a grayscale conversion. The main advantage of using this method is that you can usually achieve smoother looking tones and dark, contrasty skies that are almost completely noise-free.

A friend of mine is having a problem with sending out PDF files of her slideshows. She feels that people are simply printing off the PDF. While neither of us consider the print quality good enough, the clients must.
