Now I have had my morning coffee I can think more clearly. You are still correct. The mistake was that I used the Apple screen key combo Command+Shift+4 to capture the menu. This is what caused the menu changed from saying remove Photos from catalog' to 'Remove and trash photos'. Obvious when you think about it! If you reread that section again, it should make more sense.

Thank you,

Actually Betty, what you are seeing is correct. You have just made me realise that I let slip thorugh the menu appearance prior to the public release of 1.1 and the menu item is no longer 'Remove and Trash photos' but 'remove Photos from Catalog' on both Mac and PC systems. I'll amend the copy.

Thank you.

It is odd that my windows version of Lightroom 1.1 apparently does not have quite the same menu as the Mac version. Under the develop module, under photo, I do not have "Remove and Trash Photo". In its place is "Remove Photos From Catalog", which is something quite different. The ctrl-alt-shift del shortcut does remove and trash a photo; it is just not a menu item for me.
