Lightroom 1.1 update

To coincide with the announcement of the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.1 update, Lightroom-news, in conjunction with The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book, will be bringing you a complete guide to the new version of Lightroom as a series of eight feature stories. These will be published over the next two to three weeks starting with a guide to the general menu items in Lightroom 1.1.

I’m not finding anything in the help files about “painter”.
what’s the best source for LR 1.1 help?
Mark,
My intention here is to publish a series of guides about Lightroom 1.1 one at a time. Try coming back tomorrow, when I’ll publish a new feature story that includes among other things, info on Synchronizing folders, the new painter tool and saving metadata.
Martin
Please make sure to let everyone know that all photos run through Lightroom 1.1, regardless of any settings used, will be soft and “painterly”. Something has definitely changed for the worse. I for one have trashed the upgrade and have reverted back to 1.0 until this softness issue is resolved.
Peter,
If you want to make a serious comment about a problem ‘you’ seem to be experiencing, then this isn’t the forum for that. There is for example, a thread on the Adobe user to user forum about image quality in Lightroom 1.1:
http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.3bc44a00
I have not read all the posts, but mostly concerns the way the luminance noise reduction slider affects images in 1.1. And if you wish to start a separate new thread, then might I suggest you provide there more specific feedback such as which OS you are using and actual comparative examples of the difference in Lightroom processing.
