onOne Software gives out Lightroom Presets

Collection of custom presets created by Photoshop Guru Jack Davis are free.

The new product, PhotoPresets for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom software, are a collection of 20 custom presets developed by Jack Davis that allow photographers who use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to instantly apply various adjustment settings when importing photos into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom or at any time within the Library or Develop modules of the software program.

Pixmantec RawShooter Migration Tool

Adobe will be releasing a migration tool for pixmantic RawShooters users. Originally to be released on March 5th, it is now scheduled to be released on March 9th.

From Tom Hogarty, Lightroom Product Manager: “Please note that the first step in transferring your RSP settings to Lightroom-compatible XMP settings is to import those images into Lightroom at their current location. Lightroom will then generate XMP files that the settings migration tool will update.

Tip for Lightroom’s Remove Spots tool

In my review of Adobe’s Photoshop Lightroom, I talked briefly about the Remove Spots tool (I also talked about it in a bit more detail in my first look), which is a very powerful way for you to apply minor touch-ups to an image. One of the things that I discovered during the review process was the fact that, if your mouse had a scroll wheel (or ball, as in the case of Apple’s Mighty Mouse), you could change the size of the spot on the fly as you were working on an image.

Rename and Filename Templates

Renaming in Lightroom has generated much discussion in the forums, prompting me to finish a video tutorial I had been planning for a while.

Here’s a brief introduction to renaming in Lightroom and creating your own custom filename templates.

Batch naming in Lightroom can be done at a few stages. On Import in the filename section of the Import Dialog, Using F2 in Library and on Export. In the video I show how to create a template to suit your naming workflow to use in these locations.

Lightroom Illuminated

Lightroom Illuminated is a new section on Michael Reichmanns Luminous Landscape website. It covers written tips and advice on using Lightroom, along with ways of adapting it to your workflow.

Of the new section, Michael says: “Regular readers know that I have been involved with Adobe Lightroom as an alpha and beta tester for some time. I have produced several video tutorials on the program, and this site saw a number of beta-related Lightroom articles during 2006.

Lightroom FAQ for RawShooter customers

A number of photographers have written in this week, asking for details about how customers of Pixmantec’s RawShooter Premium (which Adobe acquired last summer) can get a free copy of Lightroom. Lightroom Product Mgr. Tom Hogarty posted a brief FAQ a few days ago that address these questions.

Q: When will Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 be available for RawShooter Premium customers?
A: The Photoshop Lightroom offer email for RawShooter Premium customers will be distributed by February 23rd with instructions on how to obtain a free downloadable copy of Lightroom 1.0.

Q: Can RawShooter Premium customers get started with Photoshop Lightroom before receiving the offer email?
A: Yes, please download the 30-day trial version of Lightroom. The offer email will provide instructions on how to obtain the serial number that will license the trial version of Lightroom.
