On January 9th last year, just after Lightroom beta 1 was released, Jeff Schewe posted a story on Photoshop News about the development of Shadowland and Lightroom. Now that Lightroom 1.0 has been officially announced, we thought it would be of interest to new visitors to this site to learn a little more about the background to the Lightroom program up until Beta 1.

Jeff Schewe originally wrote: ‘The development of Adobe Lightroom, code named Shadowland, was not something Adobe started after Apple announced Aperture. The Shadowland project has been going on for years.

How do I know that Adobe has been working on Shadowland for so long?

Because that’s how long I’ve been working on it.’
