Lightroom Podcast Episode 22 Posted

George Jardine by Jeff Schewe

George Jardine, Pro Photography Evangelist of Adobe has posted a new iTunes Podcast about Adobe Lightroom with Richard Benson and Thomas Palmer.

Title: “Adobe Lightroom Podcast #22: Richard Benson and Thomas Palmer

Description: “The thing a painter does is fundamentally different than what a photographer does. A painter goes and puts a mark somewhere, and looks at what the mark has done, and that tells the painter what the next mark should be. And that’s what Thomas and I had been doing printing. We had been putting down a layer, and that told us what the next layer could be. And I was interested in doing that with my own photographs in color. So I ended up making color pictures in acrylic from 8 or 10 separations and 40 or 50 layers.”
-Richard Benson

This podcast was recorded on Monday October 30th 2006, at Richard Benson’s home in Newport, Rhode Island. Adobe Pro Photography Evangelist George Jardine speaks fine art printer and photographer Richard Benson and his printing partner, Thomas Palmer, while they recount many fascinating stories such as working on the Gilman Paper Company book, working with Irving Penn and Paul Strand, and many other luminaries.

The views and opinions of the participants in this podcast are their own, and do not reflect or represent those of Adobe Systems.

A truly excellent podcast, George!!! It may not have anything to do with Lightroom the product but its outstanding on providing an appreciation for fine art printing.

I read Harald Johnson’s second edition of Mastering Digital Printing this year and this podcast is an excellent complement to that book.

Too often we forgot the roots of printing.

    Thanks, George!!!!
